Flightradio.com is closing August 1st, 2015

breaking news

After 17 years, I’ve decided that FlightRadio.com (in it’s current form) is going away. It’s been over a year since I’ve updated anything on this site and I feel bad about it, but other things have taken it’s place in my “free” time. I haven’t lost the passion for listening to aircraft communications or in radio in general. It’s just I’ve lost the “spark” that lead me to start this site in the first place.

For the time being, I’ve turned off the payment system and opened the pages here up to everyone.

Thank you to all the supporters over the years! Please grab your copy of FlightRadio (the ebook).

On August 1st, FlightRadio.com will revert to a page with links to other resources for those of us that like listening to airplanes and ATC.

To get your fix without a Radio, check out http://www.liveatc.net/

To find frequencies for your nearby airport, check out http://airnav.com

Goodbye and Thanks for all the fish! :)

Memberships are now all Life Memberships

As of Today, all memberships to the paid part of FlightRadio.com are life memberships.  For a one time fee of $10, you get access to all of flightradio.com AND will get a digital copy of “Flight Radio – Guide to listening to aircraft communications” for free by email.  Just let me know what version you want, and I will email it out to you.

If you signed up before and you are having trouble logging in, email me (mike [at] mikedell.com) and I will get it fixed right away.  I had some bugs in the old system and updating it might have caused a few accounts to go funky..  Sorry about that!

Thanks for supporting this online resource!

Flight Radio – Guide for Listening to Aircraft Communications is out!

NEW! 2013-2014 Edition of Flight Radio – Out Now!!

The new and improved version of my book is out on Kindle. It is completely revised with many more frequencies, a working table of contents and a fancy green cover.

Check it out here:

The printed version will be available sometime next week. (If you prefer dead trees ) :)

Need help with a book subtitle

As many of you know, my first book was called “Flight Radio – Guide to Aircraft Communications”.  Later, I realized that the subtitle was a bit misleading.  Yes, it does go into a lot about what the controllers and pilots are saying and some other “communications” things.  But what it really is, is a guide to listening to aircraft via a scanning radio and a frequency list for the USA. (state by state).

I’m working on finishing a new updated version of the book. I’ve come up with new title but something about it doesn’t sound right.   “Flight Radio – Guide for Listening to Aircraft Communications and Frequency guide for the USA”

I know it’s long, but I think it’s more descriptive.  What do you think?   Comment on this post with a title that you think will work and communicate what the book is so that the right people get the book.  If I use your suggestion, I will give you a signed printed copy of the book when it’s released. (Sometime before November 1st is my target date).

Working on the site

As you can see, things around here are changing.  I’m am actively working on updating the book and while I’m at it, updating the frequency pages.

The new version of Flight Radio – Guide for Listening to Aircraft Communications should be released in the next month or so.   Stay tuned to this blog for updates on my progress.

Also, I’m going to start posting news stories, videos, and other things of interest to the Aircraft Scanning community right here on this page.  If you use an RSS reader, subscribe to http://flightradio.com/feed/ for updates.

Your source for Aviation Scanner Radio Frequency Information

NEW! 2013-2014 Edition of Flight Radio – Coming Soon!

FlightRadio.com was started In 1998 as a community for hobbyists with radio scanners that would like to find frequencies for their local air traffic control, aircraft, airport or just that one Frequency for an air show. Over the years my interest in keeping up the site as come and gone.  Well, I’m back!

As of August 2013 I have switched the website to a membership model.  For just $10 a year, you will have access to all the frequency lists for each state in the US. Also the air show frequency page, which will have the most up-to-date frequency information for air shows and the Military teams such as the USAF Thunderbirds, US Navy Blue Angels and Canada’s Snow Birds demonstration teams.  I have also removed the Google Ads that this site has be surviving on for the last 15 years. I hope you will consider becoming a supporting member of FlightRadio.com by clicking the membership link above.

On the free side of the site is the blog (starting below this post) in which I will put interesting Air Traffic Control news, Aviation News, Airport News and Links to other interesting sites about Aviation and Radio.

You will also notice on the sidebar to the right, that Flight Radio – The book is out there.  In late 2013 the 2nd Flight Radio book will come out with updated frequency lists and more information about how to get started listing to airplanes on your scanning radio.  I have also started a state by state frequency list series available for Kindle with more in-depth lists for each state. (available on Kindle)  California is out now with New York, Florida and Texas coming out in the next few months. Stay Tuned!

So, there is plenty of information and lots more to come!  Thanks for visiting FlightRadio.com
